Neal’s Yard in Covent Garden is one of the most colourful instagramable places in London. Learn how to find this beautiful street, as well as the best restaurants to try when you’re there and when to visit. Here’s the only guide you’ll need to Neal’s Yard Covent Garden.
Why Visit Neal’s Yard?
Often people visiting Covent Garden only see the main square without taking in the surrounding area. Those who do that are seriously missing out because just five minutes walk away is the beautiful Neal’s Yard. Neal’s Yard is a small alleyway that opens up into a courtyard. All of the buildings are painted in bright colours and plenty of flowers adorn the windows. It’s one of the prettiest spots in London.
Here you can find amazing food and holistic shops. It’s the perfect place to grab lunch in London and enjoy the scenery.
Directions
So how do you get to Neal’s Yard? First things first, when you exit the Covent Garden Tube Station, instead of walking towards Covent Garden Market, walk in the opposite direction onto Long Acre.
Keep walking straight ahead and onto Neal Street, where you’ll walk past Itsu, Brandy Melville, Urban Outfitters and Superga.
Continue to the end of Neal Street and then turn left onto Monmouth Street. Just past Hotel Chocolate on the left hand side of the road, you’ll see a little alleyway. Walk down here and you’ll find Neal’s Yard
Address: 15 Monmouth Street, London WC2H 9DA
Food
Now that you’ve arrived, wheres the best place to grab food in Neal’s Yard?
Homeslice is one of my personal favourites. Here you can get delicious, thin 20″ pizzas for only £20. Take a friend along and share one for a cheap but tasty lunch!
Jacob the Angel is a tiny but lovely cafe with only 10 seats. They’re famous for their coconut cream pies and delicious coffee.
Wild Food Cafe is perfect for the health conscious. Their whole menu is plant-based and organic but don’t worry they’re wizards with flavours so everything tastes amazing. The raw desserts are always particularly impressive!
St. John Bakery is a bakery and wine shop that is particularly famous for its doughnuts, which include fillings such as vanilla custard, butterscotch and lemon cream.
Cassanova & Daughters is a wine bar and Italian deli. Expect beautiful fresh food such as onion gazpacho and tuna bresaola. Interestingly, Mr. Cassanova left the circus to start this very restaurant!
When to Visit?
Neal’s Yard Opening times are:
10am-6pm Monday to Saturday
10am-5pm Sunday
But to really appreciate it, it’s best to get there early to avoid other tourists and Londoners as the space is small and can quickly get crowded! The restaurants also fill up quickly!
