If you’re searching for the perfect breakfast in Stratford Upon Avon, then look no further. In this blog post, we’re breaking down the most delicious places to grab brunch in Stratford.
Having lived here since I was 5 years old (!!), I’ve had plenty of time to try out almost every breakfast spot in town – from independent bakeries to hidden gems. And today I’m sharing them all, so you can enjoy the best of what Stratford Upon Avon has to offer.
Top 3 Best Places for Breakfast in Stratford Upon Avon
MOR Bakery
If you like delicious pastries and sourdough bread, MOR Bakery will be your best friend!
MOR is inspired by Danish cafes and it truly hits the bill with its minimalist, Scandi interiors. Golden loaves of bread line the shelves and the counter is filled with delicious treats. Expect everything from cruffins to pain au chocolat.
Wanting something savoury? Opt for their yummy avocado on toast (their signature sourdough of course!).
They also have great coffee and a number of vegan options!
A word of warning – I’ve sometimes found the cinnamon rolls here quite dry, so would recommend opting for something else!
Bobby’s
Bobby’s is a hidden gem for breakfast in Stratford Upon Avon!
This lovely spot is housed in a 1950s train carriage on the old railway line (about 10 minutes walk from the centre of town). This is now known as ‘the greenway’, which is a lovely spot to walk the dogs or breathe in some fresh air. The team at Bobby’s have done a fantastic job of converting the carriage into a stylish cafe
In terms of food – their toasted banana bread is a dream, as are their range of baps.
Top tip: this is also a lovely spot for a drink in the warm summer months. The cocktails are fabulous!
Boston Tea Party
Although it’s a chain, I do love Boston Tea Party. In fact, it’s a firm favourite amongst locals having been voted the best cafe in Stratford for the past two years. You’ll find it on Henley Street, not too far from Shakespeare’s Birthplace.
Their breakfast menu is phenomenal. My personal favourite is the sweetcorn hash with poached eggs and halloumi but you can’t go too far wrong. Boston Tea Party also have some great vegan and vegetarian brunch options.
They don’t take any bookings, so you’ll have to rock up and hope for the best. It is a very big space though, so I’ve never had to wait long for a table.
Independent Breakfast in Stratford Upon Avon
I’ve got nothing against chain restaurants – you always know what you’re getting! But there’s definitely something to be said for supporting local independent restaurants. Here are some of my favourite independent breakfasts in Stratford.
The Fourteas
Besides Bobby’s, The Forteas has to be one of the most unique breakfasts in Stratford.
It’s a 1940s inspired tearoom right in the centre of town. With the old school music and traditional decor, you do truly feel like you’ve stepped back in time when you step through the door.
Breakfast is served until 12 daily with classic options such as the fully monty or eggs Benedict. As expected they have a fantastic selection of teas, from their own signature blend to a Japanese Sencha.
Box Brownie
Box Brownie is a fantastic independent coffee shop on Henley Street (close to Shakespeare’s Birthplace) that’s been well-loved by the locals since it first opened.
The coffee here is fantastic. They also do one of the best hot chocolates in Stratford Upon Avon! Try one of their lovely pastries or grab a bacon sandwich (my dog Lola’s personal favourite!)
The Box Brownie team is great and you can tell they really put their heart and soul into everything they do. They’ll always remember your face and the place will quickly come to feel like home.
Bardia’s
Bardia’s is a small but mighty spot on the high street with just a few seats available (although I also love grabbing something to go whilst I walk the dog from here!).
Again, their bacon sandwiches are a fan favourite and their selection of pastries and cakes are wonderful.
They outdo themselves with the drinks menu, which includes Dirty Chais, Terry’s Chocolate Orange Hot Chocolates, and Ruby Iced Tea.
The Vintner
I have such fond memories of visiting The Vintner for a heartwarming breakfast on a Sunday morning with my family growing up.
The food here is fantastic any time of the day but I particularly love their breakfast. Their full English has to be one of the very best in town and I’m a huge fan of their smoked salmon and eggs.
This always just feels like such a special spot. If you can, grab a seat by the window and watch as the town wakes up in the morning.
HR Coffee Bar
HR Coffee Bar are known in town for their (you guessed it!) amazing coffee. But they also do a great breakfast.
All of their food is made from scratch on the premises and they only used locally sourced ingredients. So, whether you’re tucking into their smoked bacon ciabatta or their porridge with honey and cream, you know it won’t have travelled far to get to you.
Again this spot is very close the centre of town, not far from Shakespeare’s Birthplace.
Arcle
Arcle is the new kid on the block. However, it’s quickly becoming one of the best places to get breakfast in Stratford Upon Avon with almost exclusively 5 star reviews on trip advisor.
The place has a beautiful, minimal vibe. You can grab a coffee and a pastry to go or sit in for their outstanding breakfast with perfectly cooked eggs and crispy sourdough toast.
Although it’s early days, I have a feeling Arcle will be here to stay as it’s already garnering a loyal fan base in the town.
York’s
Although York’s is technically a chain (they have two locations in Stratford and two in Birmingham), they’re still pretty small fry in the grand scheme of things and they definitely retain that independent feel.
This almost makes it into my top 3 breakfasts in Stratford Upon Avon.
I love that their menu offers something a little different with really interesting flavours. Choose from things like Arabian buttered eggs and Marrakesh avocado toast.
The team that work here are also fantastic and offer great customer service.
Top Tip: this is my favourite place in Stratford to get a chai latte!
Chain Restaurant Breakfasts in Stratford Upon Avon
All Bar One
All Bar One is located right in the centre of town.
Their French toast is the ultimate dessert for breakfast with sweet brûlée banana, fresh blueberries and maple syrup. And for those looking to avoid a sugar high first thing in the morning, their truffled scrambled eggs with smoked bacon are a must-try.
It’s also one of the only places in town that offers Bottomless Brunch. So, if you fancy a tipple or two with your eggs Benedict, All Bar One has you covered. Choose from unlimited cocktails or Prosecco with your food for £30.
Prospero Lounge
Prospero Lounge is a recent addition to Stratford and is part of the ‘lounge’ group.
The space is pretty big, so you shouldn’t have to wait too long for a table. And their breakfast menu is equally large with everything from shakshuka to bacon triple-stacked buttermilk pancakes.
Vegan Breakfast Stratford Upon Avon
Looking for a vegan breakfast in Stratford Upon Avon? I’ve got you! The following restaurants all have fantastic vegan options:
- Boston Tea Party
- Prospero Lounge
- MOR Bakery
Planetarium Cafe
There’s also a completely vegan cafe in Stratford Upon Avon which serves breakfast (although their menu is quite small!). Planetarium Cafe is tucked away in the centre of town.
Here you can pick anything you like and be rest assured that it’s completely vegan. Their biscoff latte is an extra special sweet treat to enjoy with your food.
Planetarium has been thriving since it first opened a few years ago and is always busy.
Dog Friendly Breakfast in Stratford Upon Avon
Wanting to take your pooch for brunch with you? There are plenty of dog friendly breakfasts in Stratford Upon Avon. My favourites are:
- Boston Tea Party
- Box Brownie
- Prospero Lounge
- York’s (if you’re sitting outside!)
