Broadway is a beautiful Cotswold village well worth a visit if you find yourself in the North Cotswolds. Honeycomb houses and independent shops line the streets, and there’s a surprising amount to do for somewhere so small. Of course, one of the best things to do in any Cotswold village is to enjoy a delicious drink and lunch at a traditional pub – and you’ll find plenty of great pubs in Broadway!
Having grown up in the nearby Stratford Upon Avon, I’ve been lucky enough to sample many pubs in the North Cotswolds with one of my very favourite areas being Broadway. Read on to find out my favourite pubs in the lovely village.
Top 3 Best Pubs in Broadway
The Swan Inn, Broadway
My favourite pub in Broadway probably has to be The Swan. You’ll find this right in the centre of Broadway on the main street. Not only is it a lovely setting with attentive staff but the food is also fantastic.
In fact, I love it here so much that I’ve even been known to pick this pub to celebrate my birthday at!
It has much more of modern, gastropub vibe, so if you’re looking for something very cosy and traditional, this might not be the place for you.
But if you’re looking for incredible food with plenty of choice for vegans and children, then The Swan could be the perfect pub in Broadway for you. Make sure to save room for desserts – the selection is delicious!

The Lygon Arms
The most famous pub in Broadway has to be the Lygon Arms. Technically a hotel, this historic grade II building can be found in the heart of the village.
If you do decide to pay a visit, you’ll be in good company. King Edward visited the hotel between 1905 and 1910. Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton also stayed there during the height of their affair. And other famous guests include Kylie Minogue, Evelyn Waugh, and Prince Philip.
If you’re looking for a cosy atmosphere, head to The Tavern, or if you’re after something a little more refined, check out their Grill. Both options are headed up by acclaimed chef James Martin and offer up fantastic food, whether you’re visiting for lunch or dinner.

The Broadway Hotel
The Broadway Hotel is a cosy 16th century inn overlooking Broadway village green, complete with a hodge podge of Cotswold stone and Tudor wattle and daub architecture.
The inn offers two options for food.
First up is the cosy Jockey Bar, complete with roaring fires and craft ales. Here you’ll find a warm atmosphere that makes the perfect antidote to cold winter days or strenuous autumnal walks. The menu is full of seasonal, local produce, with crowd pleasers like pies and fish and chips.
If you want something a little more modern, head to their restaurant, Tattersalls. Again, this menu showcases local ingredients in a bright airy space.

More Great Pubs in Broadway
The New Inn
The New Inn is a 17th Century Cotswold pub just outside of Broadway in the lovely village of Willersey. As it’s not in the centre of Broadway, you’ll probably find this pub filled with locals if you decide to visit.
The New Inn has everything you could want from a cosy Cotswold pub – flag stone floors, ceiling beams, and warming log fire. If you want the quintessential English pub experience, you’ll find it at the New Inn.
In the warm summer months, you can head to their covered garden terrace to soak up some sunshine with a refreshing pint.
Their menu includes a mixture of pub classic and modern fare, including fish and chips, pie of the day, gammon and chips, seasonal ravioli, and chicken supreme. If you visit on Sunday, you’ll be in for a treat with their delicious Sunday Roasts – choose from beef, pork, chicken, or nut roast.

Things to Do in the Cotswolds
The Horse and Hound
The Horse and Hound is yet another pub that can be found in Broadway village. Though not my personal favourite, this pub offers good pub grub at an affordable price that is perhaps better value for money than others on this list. The staff here are also very friendly and helpful.
It’s a little bit further out of the main thoroughfare of the village, though only a short walk!
📍 Address: 54 High St, Broadway WR12 7DT
The Crown and Trumpet
The Crown and Trumpet is a very traditional ‘old boozer’ with stone walls, wooden beams, and classic pub paraphernalia littering the walls.
If you’re looking for something modern, The Crown and Trumpet might feel a little outdated. But for those who simply want a traditional English pub, then it’s a great spot.
The menu is as traditional as the decor with options such as breaded scampi, gammon steak, fish pie, and sausages with mash potato.

Fantastic Pubs Near Broadway
Snowshill Arms
Snowshill is a completely underrated village in the Cotswolds that not enough people know about it. It’s just outside of Broadway and is a beautiful quiet spot that I can’t recommend highly enough. In fact, I have a whole Snowshill travel guide.
One of the lovely things about Snowshill is its local pub – the Snowshill Arms. This old fashioned pub serves traditional food, including Sunday roasts, steak and kidney pie, and fish and chips.
If you want to visit some of Broadways surrounding village, definitely head over to Snowshill.
Fun fact: Bridget Jones was filmed there!
